A Little Yeast
Luke 13:20-21
He also asked, “What else is the Kingdom of God like? It is like the yeast a woman used in making bread. Even though she put only a little yeast in three measures of flour, it permeated every part of the dough.”
Remember the old Brycleen ad? “A little dab’ l do ya” Of course, if you are under the age of, 100 or so, you may or have seen it on tv, you’ve just seen it in those collections of oldies commercials. Yeah, yeah, that’s how I saw it. Definitely during commercial breaks on 77 Sunset Strip on an old black and white television… okay, I might be over 100…
The Kingdom of God is like that. Kind of. When we receive Christ his kingdom becomes part of us. It starts changing things in us. But it is not supposed to stay that way. Like yeast permeates every part of the bread dough and makes it rise, so God’s Kingdom should permeate every bit of our lives.
Think of your life. Does God permeate every bit of it? Your marriage, your friends, your time, your thoughts and attitudes? Are there parts of you that you are holding back? Just like the yeast in the bread, God wants to permeate every part of you, not just some.
I challenge you to take stock of your life. Ask yourself what parts of you need to be turned over fully to God, and then do it. Your life will be better because of it.
Now I’m hungry for bread… Jerry.
