Exodus 3:7
Then the LORD told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of my people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering.
I was talking to someone the other day and my iPhone chirped. Suddenly, Siri’s voice began telling me all about what she had found on the subject I was talking about. Being a man of great interest and intellect, I said, “Shut up, Siri,” and shoved the phone back in my pocket.
A few years ago, Amazon had an issue with its Echo home device. You would speak to the Echo and say, “Alexa, turn on the radio…” Immediately, Alexa would turn on your radio. Then people reported that Alexa would start every time she heard an Amazon “Alexa” commercial. Alexa was always listening.
If Siri and Alexa, two bits of computer code, can hear us, understand us, and respond to our needs, can you imagine how much better God is at it?
Have you ever felt like God doesn’t hear your prayers? The Israelites must have felt like God had abandoned them in Egypt, but He hadn’t. God heard their cries; he saw their suffering. He responded with compassion, and he sent Moses to handle business with Pharaoh.
God sees, God hears, and then God sends. He may send someone to you with just what you need. He may also send you to someone else with just what they need. God is always listening and watching for us. We need to watch and listen for Him, too…
