Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.
I grew up in Los Angeles in the 60’s. I followed, and dreamed of playing for, my favorite baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers! I told anyone who would listen, and many who would not, how much I loved the Dodgers. I envisioned myself behind home plate flashing finger signs to Don Drysdale. “Forget the curve, Don, go for the heater!”
Now, in my mid-sixties, I am still a Dodgers fan. I have a jersey, hats, I even have Dodgers cups. I am proud to be a life-long Dodgers fan.
I am also not afraid to tell anyone and everyone about someone much more important. Jesus took a kid from the inner city and gave him new life. Growing up I was just another statistic, a young man headed for a bad end because of his environment and living situation. God had other plans.
He has plans for you, too. He has plans for your neighbors and family. He can bring them out of addictions, redeem lives that have been wasted, and give hope to the hopeless. How, you ask? It starts with us not being ashamed to share what Jesus has done for us. Say it loud, say it proud, say it often! Jesus saves!
