Luke 16:10
“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.
Years ago the Douglas Aircraft Company was competing with Boeing to sell Eastern Airlines its first big order of jets. War hero, Eddie Rickenbacker, the head of Eastern Airlines, reportedly told Donald Douglas that the specifications and claims made by Douglas Company for the DC-8 were very close to Boeings' on everything except noise suppression - apparently, Douglas was noisier. Rickenbacker then gave Douglas one last chance to out-promise Boeing on that feature. After talking with his engineers Douglas said that he didn’t feel he could make that promise. Rickenbacker replied, "I know you can’t, I just wanted to see if you were still honest."
It is so easy to lie, especially if the truth is hard. So, what makes the difference between us lying and telling the truth? Character.
NFL coach Tony Dungy said, "Character begins with the little things in life. We must show that we can be trusted with even the trivial things."
Are you faithful and truthful about the little things in your life? If you want to be trusted by God and by others, you have to start with having character in life’s small things.
