Luke 15:17
When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, “At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger!”
The young man was out of money. He sat in the pig sty and was so hungry that the pig’s food looked good to him. Have you ever seen what pigs eat? There’s a good reason they call it slop.
Then the light bulb went off! He thought to himself, “Self, just go back home to your father.”
Right, the father that I told I was tired of waiting for him to die so I could get my inheritance. The father who had to sell property that had been in his family for generations, just so he could give me what I demanded. There is no way he’ll accept me back.
I know, I’ll tell him I’m not worthy to be his son, I’ll just be a hired hand. Yes, that will work. Well, it might work. Heck, I don’t know if it will work at all, but it has to be better than this!
The Prodigal Son returned home, and not only did his father welcome him, but he also threw a party! His father was waiting for him to come to his senses and come home.
If you have wandered far from God, your Heavenly Father is waiting for you to come home, too. He has the Dr. Pepper and Doritos (taco flavor,,of course) ready to go for the biggest shindig you have ever seen. God wants you to come back, He has been waiting for you.
Don’t be afraid to come back to God. You will find him to be a loving father who will welcome you with open arms.
What are waiting for? The Dr. Pepper and Doritos are waiting, God is waiting. All He needs is you.
