Daddy!
Galatians 4:6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”
When my boys were little, very few things warmed my heart like hearing them yell, “Daddy!” as they rushed toward me. As they grew older it became “Dad,” but it still warmed me inside. I don’t remember them every addressing me as Father, and if they had I would have asked them what was wrong with them. Father seems too formal. I wanted to be Dad.
Dad is a relationship. You don’t become a dad by having children, that makes you a father. You become a dad by raising children. You become a dad by talking, listening, caring, and yes, disciplining when needed. In other words, you become a dad by emulating your Heavenly Father.
God is truly the perfect Dad. He loves you. He cares about everything in your life. He wants the best for you. He loves you so much that he disciplines you when you need it, instead of making you a brat by indulging you.
God is the perfect father that all of us wanted, but none of us had. So when you pray, remember that you are not talking to a stern, far off, uncaring father. Nope, you are talking to your dad. Your loving, caring, compassionate dad. Remember that will change your prayer life!
