Did You Know?
Numbers 34:3-5
The southern portion of your country will extend from the wilderness of Zin, along the edge of Edom. The southern boundary will begin on the east at the Dead Sea. It will then run south past Scorpion Pass in the direction of Zin. Its southernmost point will be Kadesh-barnea, from which it will go to Hazar-addar, and on to Azmon. From Azmon the boundary will turn toward the Brook of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Sea.
Did you know that the Promised Land that God promised the Israelites included South America? It’s true! Part of the Promised Land was Azmon. Now, we all know that spellings change through the years, so, obviously, Azmon transmogrified over the years to our word Amazon. The Amazon River is in South America. And, the company Amazon’s stock market name is AMZN. So, you see, it’s as clear as the nose on your face: South America was part of God’s Promised Land for the Israelites!
Now, I am going to assume that none of you fell for that malarkey! Since you read this devotional, obviously you are far too smart to buy what I was trying to sell. Or did you?
There are all kinds or “preachers” out there trying to sell you a false religion slyly packaged as the real thing. They will start with a verse like I did, and then slowly take you farther from the Gospel.
In Matthew 7:15 Jesus said, “Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.” The wolves are out there, and they are vicious, and hungry!
The only way to know if what a preacher, or anybody else for that matter, says is biblical is to know your Bible. Read it. Know God’s promises and character. When you know the truth, the lies will jump out at you!
