Romans 2:13 For merely listening to the law doesn’t make us right with God. It is obeying the law that makes us right in his sight.
The British journal of medicine reported in July of 2018 that a woman in England had 27 contacts removed from her eye. She would put them in but wasn't always able to find them, so she just assumed they had fallen out.
Actually, the lenses were slipping to the back of her eye and getting stuck. She just kept adding new ones in, and they piled up. But despite having 27 lenses in her eye, her vision was not 27 times stronger.
It’s the same way with Christianity. I know people who have listened to hundreds of sermons, but never put a single one into practice. They are willing to come to church on Sunday to “do their duty” for God, but they aren’t there to have their lives changed. Like the lady’s contact lenses, all these sermons aren’t making them better, they are just piling up.
The vast majority of Christians don’t need to hear another sermon, they need to go live out the ones they have heard. Apply what you already know, then God will give you more to do, more blessings to give, and more blessings to receive.
You can’t just hear the Gospel, you have to do the do’s!
So go on, get out of the pew and show the world what it means to be a doer, not just a hearer.
