Don’t Call It A Comeback!
Judges 16:22
But before long, his hair began to grow back.
Samson was in a poor state. He had been betrayed by a woman he loved, but who loved money more than him.
He had allowed his hair to be cut and lost all of God’s power as his tresses fell to the floor.
He was then captured by the dreaded Philistines and made to grind in their prisons.
But… His hair began to grow back.
As it grew back, Samson must have felt God’s power returning to him. Finally, guarded by only a small boy, Samson was led to the temple to amuse the Philistines. Big mistake.
God’s power came back to Samson one last time, and over 3,000 Philistines were killed.
Don’t call it a comeback, God was always there. Samson took disobeyed God and took for granted and it cost him dearly.
I can imagine Samson sitting in the prison. Sweating, blind and powerless. Yet, as he runs his hand over his head to wipe away the sweat he feels stubble. And that stubble means God isn’t done.
You may be blinded, in a prison of your own making. You may have given up hope, but run your hand over your head and feel the stubble of God’s blessing waiting to grow in you. Just don’t call it a comeback, God has been here all along, hoping for your return to him.
