Giving God Our Best
Leviticus 1:10
If the offering is a burnt offering from the flock, from either the sheep or the goats, he is to offer a male without defect.
The Book of Leviticus has pretty strict guidelines about how the Israelites were to offer sacrifices to God. The right kind of offering had to be offered in the right way in order for it to be accepted by God.
Have you ever wondered why? Why does God care if the bull brought for an offering has a bad leg? Why can’t the grain offering have yeast or honey in it, and why does it have to contain salt? Seems pretty picky, right?
God is the creator of the universe, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, so why does he need that kind of offering.
He doesn’t. We do!
God doesn’t need us to worship or follow him. We need to worship and follow. All of God’s laws and precepts are there for our benefit, not his. As we follow God his way, we learn what it takes for us to be happy, whole, and well. He made us, so he knows what is best for us.
Quit trying to freelance your Christian walk. It won’t work, and it will just end up frustrating and unfulfilling.
Bring God your best, live life his way, and watch what God can do in your life!
