God Carries Us
Psalms 68:19 Praise the Lord; praise God our savior! For each day he carries us in his arms.
The little lamb was intent on the sweet grass in front of him. There to the right is another patch. A little further on there is another patch. The lamb couldn’t believe his luck! He was used to losing out to the adult sheep, so to find these patches all to himself was something very cool.
There is another patch over between those rocks. As he stepped into the rocky patch he felt the rocks move. Suddenly, he was stuck! He struggled to get his leg free, but it wouldn’t move. More and more he struggled, cutting his leg. He began to cry out, but he had wandered too far from the flock, and was all alone.
Across the pasture the shepherd heard the cries of the little guy. He ran over to free the lamb. His leg was bleeding pretty badly, so the shepherd scooped him up and carried him back to the flock and bandaged the lamb’s wounds.
Today’s verse from Psalm 68 tells us that every day God carries us in his arms. What a beautiful picture of God’s loving care for us. We stray away, seeking fresher pastures and get ourselves in trouble. When we cry out, the Good Shepherd hears us and rescues us, picking us up and lovingly carrying us to safety.
Wherever you are, whatever is happening in your life, God is there, listening for your cries, ready to pick you up and carry you. All you need to do is cry out to him.
