God’s Broken Heart
Genesis 6:6
So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.
At times I am just selfish enough to think that my sin only affects me. Nobody else is bothered or affected.
Of course, this is just plain wrong. Our sins (see how I lumped you together with me?) are like rocks thrown into a pond. The resulting ripple goes much further than where the rock entered the water.
I’m sure you know that. But did you also realize that your sin breaks God’s heart? It does.
Let’s make this the year that we stop before we act selfishly, and ask if our actions are going to break God’s heart.
Luke 4:8
Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the LORD your God and serve only him.’”
I thought that being retired would make it easier to make extra time for God.
Not really.
You see, no matter how much time you have, you still need to make a conscious effort to carve out time for him. Not leftover time. Priority time!
Every day, set aside time to read your Bible, pray for your needs and the needs of others. As we do that, God will open up so many doors for us to serve him. He might even surprise you and call you to do something you’ve never done before!
Serving Christ is an adventure! Let’s roll!
