God’s Faithful Love
Genesis 39:21
But the LORD was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the LORD made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.
Joseph was stuck in prison. He hadn’t done anything wrong, either. Potiphar’s wife had the hots for Joseph, and when he politely said no, she accused him of rape.
Joseph spent his days in prison bitter. All day he raked his cup over the iron bars screaming “Attica, Attica, Attica.” Wait, no he didn’t.
Joseph remained Joseph. He didn’t let a bad situation turn him bitter. Instead, he did what God had called him to do and people took notice. He ended up being second in command to Pharoah himself. All because of God’s faithful love.
Now, if we were in that position we would be tempted to get bitter. “I didn’t do anything wrong, yet God let me get blamed anyway, and now I am stuck in prison. Where is God in all this?” He’s right there with you, loving you with his faithful love.
Our Heavenly Father loves us with a love that never waivers, never forgets, never ends. It is a faithful love. Whether we are riding high on successes, or sinking deeper and deeper into failures and pain, God is there with us.
Joseph could have prayed for, and probably would have accepted, an immediate release from prison. But God had so much more for him. It is so easy to settle for microwave gratification, but God has so much more for us.
If you’re going through a tough time, don’t look for an easy out, look for God’s faithful love. His plans for you are so much greater than anything you could cook up for yourself!
