Daniel 10:19 “Don’t be afraid,” he said, “for you are very precious to God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!”
As he spoke these words to me, I suddenly felt stronger and said to him, “Please speak to me, my lord, for you have strengthened me.”
I was weary. God had given me a vision of the coming judgement on Israel, and it hurt. I had prayed, asking God for mercy, but Israel needs to be taught a lesson about taking God for granted. I understand, but my heart still aches for these rebellious people.
God gave me another vision, and it was terrifying! The men I was with didn’t see it, but they suddenly felt some of what I felt, and they left me standing there all alone. My strength left me, and I fell to my knees.
Suddenly a hand gently reached out and touched me, and lifted me up. God had sent a messenger to me to heal me. He explained what God was doing and why. I stared down at the ground, unable to speak.
The messenger put his hand to my lips and I began speaking in a torrent of words, explaining how weary I was and how weak I felt. Then he touched me again and said, ““Don’t be afraid,” he said, “for you are very precious to God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!”
I felt renewed in my body and spirit. I said to him, “Please speak to me, my lord, for you have strengthened me.”
God’s judgement was still coming, nothing could stop it. Even so, my spirit was renewed by the messengers words. My prayers were not in vain, God had sent me encouragement and strength just when I needed it most. I am precious to God, and he offered me peace. Praise be to God!
