God’s Valuables
Matthew 10:29-31 What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.
Sparrows were sold in bunches because they were cheap, easy food. They were sold pre-plucked and skewered, ready to roast and eat. They were considered low priced food for the masses, not much value there.
And yet, not a single one of these cheap little birds falls to the ground without God knowing about it. And if they are so valuable to God, how much more valuable are we?
We’re so valuable that God sent his only Son to die for us.
You are not just some lump on this planet. You have worth, you are important, you are treasured. In fact, you are one of God’s valuables. The book of Ephesians calls us “God’s masterpiece.”
So hold your head a little higher today, knowing that God loves you and cares about you. He cares what you dream about, he cares what you cry about, he cares what you laugh about. Take your cares, concerns, and dreams to God and let him have them. You matter to him!
