Acts 13:10
Then he said, “You son of the devil, full of every sort of deceit and fraud, and enemy of all that is good! Will you never stop perverting the true ways of the Lord?
In his book The Gulag Archipelago, Alexander Solzhenitsyn wrote:“The line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either -- but right through every human heart -- and through all human hearts. This line shifts. Inside us, it oscillates with the years. And even within hearts overwhelmed by evil, one small bridgehead of good is retained”
As Christians, we can see a wave of evil relentlessly attacking our world. What can we do about it? For too long, the attitude of the church was to “pray about it, but don’t get involved.” Praying is right, but standing by and watching it happen is wrong. We need to confront it.
I’m not saying we should be ugly or mean when we confront this evil. We can still react and act in love, with compassion for those who are lost. I’m not calling for picket signs or using a bullhorn to shout people into hell, I’m talking about loving people enough to tell them the truth, about moving the line in their heart.
Paul told the church in Corinth: 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love.
It’s time for us to start being the light in a dark world.
