Mark 11:17
He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves.”
According to an email I received, a Nigerian prince has tons of money for me, if I will just send him some funds so he can release them.
I saw a commercial for an amazing magnetic doohickey that I attach to the fuel line of my car. The magnet aligns all of the fuel molecules and will give me better gas mileage.
I know of people who sent away for “Miracle Spring Water” from a televangelist. They were promised checks from unknown places, and miracles would happen daily!
Another guy sold green handkerchiefs that you could use to focus your prayer powers.
Another huckster, I mean televangelist, sold “Miracle Manna!” It was a saltine or some kind of cracker that the guy had developed that would bring miracles to your life, and big checks, too!
People fall for these scams every day. They fall prey to these religious snake oil salesmen who have turned God’s house into a money-making scam. Jesus would have a field day knocking over their phone bank tables and whipping these guys who have made a mockery of Christianity.
God’s gifts are free to each of us. We don’t need miracle water, or miracle manna, or some handkerchief some dude has prayed over. We just need to go to God. Don’t let anybody fool you, God’s blessings can’t be bought, earned or sold. They are given by a loving God when it exactly right for us, not too early, and not too late. Just keep praying, and let God move in your life. And you Don’t need a green hankie to do it!
