It’s no fun being born blind, let me tell you. I have to depend on everybody for everything. Some of the “religious” folks think I am blind because of my sin or my parents’ sins. Whatever you say, Sparky, I just know I’m blind.
I hear a pack of people coming down the road, and the leader, a guy named Jesus, gives a little speech and spits on the ground. The next thing I know this dude is rubbing spit mud on my eyes! Ewwww!
Then he tells me to go wash in the pool of Siloam. Weird, but I gotta get this spit mud out of my eyes anyway, so I do it…
I can see! No more darkness, no more fumbling about. I can see! Everybody is going to be so happy and amazed!
Turns out, not everybody is happy. The Pharisees are pretty ticked off. They interrogate me like I’m a criminal. I’m not sure what they are mad about. Something about the Sabbath, Jesus being a devil, typical Pharisee stuff.
When they come to question me again, I am over it. I answer sharply:
John 9:25 “I don’t know whether he is a sinner,” the man replied. “But I know this: I was blind, and now I can see!”
I need to find Jesus and thank him, and I am going to stay as far away from these Pharisees as I can…
