Leviticus 26:3 If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands,

God is a great promise keeper. If he has promised you something, it will happen. The Israelites were given today’s verse, and in the coming verses some amazing things were promised to them.

But the promises had a condition: If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands…

They just couldn’t do it. They got led away by enticing things, or a new way of life, or any number of things, and they lost out on the promises that God gave them. God’s promises were greater than anything they got when they walked away from him! They traded gold for lead, blessings for cursing, and a good life for a life of pain.

And at times, we have all done the same thing.

How many times in my life have I taken the easy way out instead of holding onto God? More than I can count, and certainly more than I want to tell you! God has greatness for each of us, but it come with the same condition God gave the Israelites: If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands.

I have learned over the years that God’s ways are golden, anything else is just lead.
