Inside Out
Psalms 19:14
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
I really like bananas. If Satan were to tempt me in the Garden of Eden he would have used a banana, not an apple.
So when I started peeling a banana for my snack the other day I was pretty bummed to find out the whole thing was rotten inside. Outside it looked good, it had a few spots, but nothing too bad. Inside, it was hideous. It was blackened and slimy, and not at all appetizing. I threw it away.
Our passage today talks bout the meditations of our hearts and our words. There is a direct correlation between your words and your heart. Matthew 12:34 says, “For whatever is in your heart determines what you say.”
In `our quest to be more Christ-like, we must begin inside out. Change your heart and your words and actions will change. It’s not enough to not do the don’ts, we have to do the do’s. That means our heart and mind must change. We can’t fully change the way we act until we fully change the way we think and what we meditate on.
