1 Timothy 4:7 Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly.
I have a Facebook account. You can find a few things on it. I publish a daily devotional (you’re reading it right now). I announce sermons and Bible Studies that are published. I even throw in things about our travels.
What you won’t find on my Facebook page is me arguing over things. I have seen people post things about how stupid atheists are, I also have seen atheists point out how stupid Christians are.
I have seen Democrats go after Republicans, Republicans go after Democrats, and independents go after everyone.
Now, understand, I have personal opinions about those topics, and I used to enjoy arguing over them online. Now I choose not to waste my time trying to convince people on the internet about them. I would rather spend my time pointing people to Jesus. I have never heard anybody say, “You know, I was against (insert topic here), but then I read a Facebook post that totally changed my mind!”
We can’t be all over the place, arguing against everything and accomplishing nothing. We must concentrate on God and serving him. No steam or gas drives anything until it is confined. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, and disciplined.
As Christians we need to be focused on reaching others for Christ. That is our main purpose and focus. You can’t argue people into heaven. Jesus consistently told crowds about God’s love and how to apply it to their lives. We should be doing the same. You can even do that on Facebook!
Today’s Readings: 2 Kings 8,9; 2 Chronicles 21; 1 Timothy 4
