Revelation 14:12 This means that God’s holy people must endure persecution patiently, obeying his commands and maintaining their faith in Jesus.
In 1897, a man by the name of Pearle Wait wore several hats. He was a construction worker. He dabbled in patent medicines and went door to door selling homemade remedies. In the midst of his tinkering, he came upon the idea of mixing fruit flavoring with granulated gelatin. His wife named it "Jell-O" and Wait thought it was just another product to try to peddle. Unfortunately, sales didn’t go as fast as he thought they should, so just a few months after developing this product, he sold all the rights to a man named Orator Woodward for $450.
Woodward knew the bargain that he got. Understanding the value of marketing and patience, within just 8 brief years, he turned that $450 investment into a $1 million dollar business. Today, not a single relative of Pearle Wait receives one penny from the 1.1 million boxes of Jell-O that are sold every single day. Pearle Wait missed out on a potential fortune because he gave up too early.
Wait waited only a few months before he sold. Orator Woodward waited 8 years and made a fortune. There was money to be made if Pearle Waits could have kept building his business, patiently enduring the work and struggles that building a business can bring.
In the same way, we need to learn to patiently endure hardships while we wait for Christ’s return. Yes, life can be difficult. Yes, we can get roughed up and want to give up, but God promises strength, wisdom and peace. If you are going through a difficult situation, know that God is going to see you through. He will bless your life and heal your pain, just don’t give up before he does it.
