Ezekiel 33:16 None of their past sins will be brought up again, for they have done what is just and right, and they will surely live.
Do you remember vinyl LPs and 45’s? I had stacks of them! In junior high, whenever I got some money together, I would head to the record store to pick up my favorite song on 45 rpm records. After some time of being roughly handled, the record would get scratched.
One day you are listening to Elton John’s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” just like you always do, but this time Sir Elton sings, “So goodbye yellow brick road, where… So goodbye yellow brick road, where… So goodbye yellow brick road, where… So goodbye yellow brick road, where…”
The record is a goner! It keeps skipping back to that deep wound in the record’s surface. It will keep playing the same thing over and over.
Do you have a failure that plays over and over in your head like a broken record? Every time you start feeling good about your life and what Christ has done for you, this sin keeps playing over and over in your head, robbing you of joy and making you doubt God’s power to forgive.
Today’s verse talks about those who were evil and repented of their ways. God says, “None of their past sins will be brought up again…” So why do we do to ourselves what God himself won’t do? If you ask God to forgive you and repent of your sins, God will not bring them up again! Don’t let your doubts, or the devil take away your joy. You’ve been forgiven!
