Naysayers Gonna Naysay!
Luke 11:14-15
One day Jesus cast out a demon from a man who couldn’t speak, and when the demon was gone, the man began to speak. The crowds were amazed, but some of them said, “No wonder he can cast out demons. He gets his power from Satan, the prince of demons.”
Chew on a couple of these quotes:
“By 2005 or so, it will become clear that the Internet’s impact on the economy has been no greater than the fax machine’s.” Economist Paul Krugman in 1998
In 2011 Blockbuster tweeted, “Tweet why you’re leaving Netflix. The top three most creative tweets using #GoodbyeNetflix will win a 1-year subscription to Blockbuster!”
My teachers told me repeatedly that I wasn’t always going to have a calculator in my pocket…
People are often critical of things they don’t understand. Sometimes they just don’t know what they are talking about, sometimes they have their agenda to push.
When Jesus cast the demons out of a man, the locals were stunned. They couldn’t believe what they had just seen.
Soon the naysayers showed up. You know these guys, they are the always first ones to cast doubt on things.
“Ack-shu-ally,” they begin, in their ‘I know it all, but you’re a moron’ voice ,”the reason Jesus could cast out demons is because he is working for Satan…”
Wha? How does that make sense? Dude has a demon, Jesus takes the demon out because… Jesus is working with old split-hoof? That doesn’t make sense!
You can’t let the attitudes of naysayers get in the way of serving God. There are always going to be idiots, I mean naysayers, who just can’t accept the idea of a loving God, no matter what they see. Ignore ‘em! Just keep living and walking with Jesus, he’s the one who will sustain you, not the doubters.
Typing this on an iPad (take that, Paul Krugman!)… Jerry
