King Jehoshaphat was having a bad day. When he woke up he got news that he was surrounded, not by one army, not by two armies, but by three armies! That qualifies as a bad day no matter who you are.
While everybody else was looking into troop readiness and battle plans, Jehoshaphat knew exactly what he needed to do. He prayed.
He called everyone together and prayed, “O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.”( 2 Chronicles 20:12)
The Lord gives a message to Jahaziel that says, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” (2 Chronicles 20:15)
God caused all three armies to fight against each other, and all King Jehoshaphat and his guys had to do was collect the plunder!
What a message! Quit worrying, this isn’t your battle, it is mine. Stop fretting over what you are going to do, put your faith in God and see how he comes through.
What are you facing today? Follow Jehoshaphat’s lead. Humble yourself, go to God, and then wait to see not how are you going to do battle, but instead wait to see God go to battle for you.
