Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
At Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA monument sits atop a tomb dedicated to unknown soldiers killed in battle.
The monument has a guard 24 hours a day. Every hour on the hour, 365 days a year, rain or shine, a new soldier reports for duty. When the new guard arrives, he receives his orders from the one who is leaving. The words from the outgoing guard are always the same: “Post and orders remain as directed.” The incoming guard’s response is always “Orders acknowledged.”
Right before Jesus ascended into heaven, he gave the disciples their marching orders. They were simple: go! Go tell people about Jesus. Start at home, then work your way out further and further until the whole world is changed.
The orders given to the disciples have now been passed down to us. We need to reach the people around us, then our cities, counties, states and the world. Go, and tell everybody you can about the Savior who made your life complete. Our post and orders remain unchanged: Go tell the world!
The orders have been communicated to us. Now the world awaits your response: “Orders acknowledged.”
