There happened to be a large herd of pigs feeding on the hillside nearby, and the demons begged him to let them enter into the pigs.
So Jesus gave them permission.
When I was a kid a Sunday School teacher told us that today’s verse was why pigs aren’t Kosher. I believed her. It wasn’t until years later that I found out that pigs weren’t Kosher long before this verse.
Nice lady, but not very well-informed.
If you are a Christian are there things like this that you just believe? If you aren’t a Christian, the question is for you as well.
It’s important to know God, but it’s even more important to know why. God is not afraid of your inquiries. He isn’t bothered when you ask questions. In fact, it is encouraged!
James 1:5 says, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” So ask away!
When you seek him, you will find a God who loves you and wants you to know him; spiritually, mentally and fully. And you won’t believe something erroneous like I did!
