Job 21:17
“Yet the light of the wicked never seems to be extinguished. Do they ever have trouble? Does God distribute sorrows to them in anger?
Let’s face it, Job had plenty of reason to be upset. He had lost everything. Well, almost everything. He still had friends who were more than happy to yell at him, question his motives and pile on him. He also still had his wife, who didn’t appear to give him much compassion, either. So, let me rephrase: Job lost everything that made his life enjoyable.
When you get down it is easy to have a pity party. We start singing our favorite song, “Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I think I’ll go eat worms!”
Once you start the pity party, the next step is to start comparing your life to the lives of others. You always imagine people having lives so much better than yours. We start asking God why someone as nasty as that other person thrives while you barely survive.
The problem is you never compare your whole life with their whole life. You only compare what you see, not what you can’t see.
Get your eyes off of other people and ask God to make you the person He wants you to be. You will find that not only is your life not so bad, there is a purpose for what you are going through. As you let God work in your life you will find peace you never thought possible. So, drop your pity party hat and get close to God!
