1 Corinthians 15:43
Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength.
I have dealt with death my entire adult life. As a pastor I have done many death bed visits and many funerals.
As a crime scene investigator I saw everything from homicides to suicides. I have been to more autopsies than I can count.
Death always starts with a broken body. The body may have been broken in an accident, it may have been touched by sickness, or it may have just run out of time. The bodies are always broken. And to many, the story ends there.
For Christians, we know the broken body is the beginning! Vance Havner said, “God uses broken things. It takes broken soil to produce a crop, broken clouds to give rain, broken grain to give bread, broken bread to give strength. It is the broken alabaster box that gives forth perfume. It is Peter, weeping bitterly, who returns to greater power than ever.”
Our bodies may die broken, but they will rise to heaven as a glorified body, one without scars, aches or pains. That is the power of the resurrection, that is the promise of eternal life! Paul writes
1 Corinthians 15:49 Just as we are now like the earthly man, we will someday be like the heavenly man.
If you are following Christ, don’t fear death. Death is just the transition to heaven.
