Saturdays With Soren

I took my grandson, Soren, to McDonald’s. There were other people there, but really it was Soren and his grandpa. We went to Wal-Mart and got a toy (okay, two), ate lunch at the park, and had a cool time!

You see, this kid has got me all googly inside. Lanette and I talk about him when he’s not around, and we go through Soren withdrawal if we don’t see him for a while. I even signed him up for the Hot Wheels Redline Club so he can have a collection of Hot Wheels like Grandpa.

He is truly the banana of my eye. I know it is supposed to be “apple of my eye,” but I like bananas better.

I love this little guy so much. He turned two years old at the end of March, and it has been two of the best years of my life. At this point, I can’t think of anything I wouldn’t do for him. I will protect him, feed him, clothe him and do everything I can for him. Why? Because I love him more than I could have possibly imagined 30 months ago.

Do you realize that God loves you even more than that? Listen to what Jesus said…

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted…” (John 3:16, 17 The Message)

Here’s the thing. When I say that God loves you I mean that He loves you personally and individually, not the vague, corporate “loves you” we all think of. No, God loves you. Go back and read John 3:16 again and insert your name…

“This is how much God loved (your name): He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that (your name) does not need to be destroyed; by believing in him, (your name) can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending His Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling (your name) how bad he was. He came to help, to put (your name) right again. If (your name) trusts in him he is acquitted…”

It amazes me how many unhappy people walk around every day thinking there is no hope for them.

Maybe you have everything you need, yet you still feel like there needs to be something more.

Or maybe you are neither too high nor too low, you just go through each day kind of medium.

Regardless your situation, Jesus came for you!
