Acts 3:16
“Through faith in the name of Jesus, this man was healed—and you know how crippled he was before. Faith in Jesus’ name has healed him before your very eyes.
Paul Harvey told the story of a 3-year-old boy who went to the grocery store with his mother. She sternly told him, “No chocolate chip cookies; don’t even ask!”
In the store she put him in the shopping cart seat, and they went down the aisles. He was quiet until he got to the cookie aisle. When he saw all those chocolate chip cookies packages, he said, “Mom, can I have some chocolate chip cookies?” She said, “I told you not to ask. No!”
Later, she accidentally went back to the cookie aisle. He asked again. “Sit down & be quiet; I said, ‘No!’”
Finally, arriving at the checkout, the boy knew it was his last chance. He stood up and shouted as loud as he could, “In the name of Jesus, may I have some chocolate chip cookies?”
Everyone around him laughed and applauded, and with the help of the other shoppers, the little boy left the grocery store with 23 boxes of chocolate chip cookies!
The boy asked for one box of cookies, but he got so much more!
In today’s verse, Peter and John had been walking through the Temple when a crippled man asked them for money. He asked for money because healing was out of the question.
Peter looked at the man and told him, I don’t have any money,” I can almost see the twinkle on Peter’s eyes, “but I have something much better!”
Isn’t that just like God? We ask for something small and temporary, and He gives us so much more! He gives us peace and hope, and an eternal home where we won’t even have to ask for peace and joy!
Don’t be afraid to ask God for help. He will give it to you, and so much more!
