Luke 8:15
And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.
The farmer looks out at the snow covering his fields He knows that the spring thaw is coming, and with the warmth comes planting season.
Before he plants the seed he will prepare the field. He’ll pull out rocks that have risen with the frost, spread the right fertilizers, and get the earth ready for the seed. He knows that the harder he prepares in the spring, the better his harvest will be. He knows there is a difference between soil and dirt. Soil will grow things, dirt won’t.
A book on gardening said, “Take care of the soil, and don’t worry about the plants. If the soil is good, the seed will take root and grow.”
Is your heart good soil or is it dirt? When you got to church or open your Bible have you prepared your heart? Have you dug up the sins that crowd your mind? What about the bitterness or hurt you are harboring? Like rocks and weeds, those things will choke out and kill the crop that God wants to plan in your heart.
Let God’s Word open your heart and your mind. Get rid of all the rocks of sin, hurt and pain that are keeping you from God, then take in His Word and let the Holy Spirit work. The harvest in your life will be plentiful and satisfying!
