1 Corinthians 3:6-7
I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.
A farmer goes out to his wheat field. He is frustrated because nothing is growing yet. He needs someone to plant seeds.
Another farmer goes to his corn field. His entire crop is dried up and withered. He needs someone to water his fields.
A third farmer approaches his grove of trees and see apples laying all over the ground. The fruit is falling off of the trees and rotting. He needs someone to harvest his crops.
There are fields of ministry all around us. There are people in our workplaces, homes, and neighborhoods who need the seed of Christ planted, watered, or harvested in their lives. Yet, many of the fertile fields that surround us are withering away, for lack of the attention they need.
Our job as Christians is to be ready for the next field God sends us. It may be time to plant seed, water, or harvest. That’s not up to us, it is up to God. He sends them our way, and we are ready to do what is needed to bring them to Christ.
Quit worrying about whether you are a seed planter, a waterer or a harvester. God has a plan for you, and he wants you to have a bag of seeds, a hose, or a bushel basket, waiting for what is next.
