John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Mom noticed that the house was quiet. Eerily quiet. Too quiet. She has a rambunctious 7 year old boy and silence can only mean one thing: he’s up to something, and it’s probably not good.
Every parent knows that fear. The house gets silent and you find Junior deciding that the wallpaper in the living room needs to come down. Or he is trying to experiment on the poor cat again, putting Tabby in the washer or the dryer. Silence equals bad stuff!
She cautiously enters the living room to find her son sitting on the couch. The TV isn’t on, he is just sitting there. The mom asks,”What are you doing?”
The kid answers, “Nothing, Mom, just living.”
Just living. In the middle of today’s verse there is a comma, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” That comma is in our lives, too. Are we just living, or living life to the fullest?”
Jesus didn’t come to earth and go to the cross just so we could go to Heaven. He also came so that we can have that full life here and now. As we follow Christ he wants to fix every part of our life and make sure we can live it to the fullest, at its most abundant. Accepting Christ should make you a better spouse, a better parent, and a better person.
Which side of the comma are you on? Are you just living without Jesus, or are you living the full life with Him? It’s your choice.
