The Widow’s Mite

Luke 21:3-4

“I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”

She didn’t have much, just a couple mites, tenth of a cent. The man before her made a big show of his giving, probably more than she had ever seen. To the crowds, he was a hero, she was a zero.

Jesus saw it differently. He didn’t look at the amount she gave, he saw the measure of her giving. She gave all she had.

This goes to more than money, too. God wants us to give all of us, not just Sundays, or a couple of Chicken McNugget prayers through the week.
