Through Tears
2 Corinthians 6:8
We serve God whether people honor us or despise us, whether they slander us or praise us. We are honest, but they call us impostors.
There are factions in the world today that see Christians as nothing more than people who want to take over the world with their politics and religion. To them, saying something like, “God bless you” is an attack on their very right to live! They see us as impostors, just using religion as a cudgel.
If we take exception to the way they have twisted words, or totally denied the natural order of life, we are hatemongers who want people to die.
Are there some idiots, I mean misguided Christians, who think that way and spout hateful rhetoric? Absolutely, and real Christians want nothing more than for them to be quiet. Like, now. Please, just shut up.
I heard a talk show host passionately rant about how Christians don’t understand Jesus if they condemn sin. I guess that’s what happens when you read the Bible trying to prove a point rather than letting it change your life.
True, Jesus was all about love. He was also about people living right. At the well he forgave the woman living in sin, but he also told her, “Go and sin no more.” Jesus loves you in spite of your sin. He also loves you too much to allow you to be destroyed by your sin.
Should Christians call out sin? Absolutely! But we should only do it with tears of love and compassion rolling down our cheeks. We are in the business of redeeming souls, not hatred. Never, ever forget that.
