Romans 4:20 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.
I read a story of a father and his young son who were away from home when their city was bombed. The father scooped up his son and headed for the nearest bomb shelter. On the way, the bombing intensified and the father wasn’t sure they would make it to the shelter.
Seeing a deep hole, the father put his son down and jumped into the hole.
When he told his son that he would catch him in his arms if the boy would jump into the hole, the boy said, “But I can’t see you, father!”
The father looked up at the silhouette of his son against the background of explosions and burning buildings and said, “But you don’t have to see me, because I can see you.”
With faith and trust, the son jumped into his father’s waiting arms.
True faith is the willingness and the ability to trust in what we cannot see.
God asks us to trust him with our lives, and he will prove trustworthy. But just like the little boy, trust comes first. Too often we say we will believe or have faith if we can see where we are going first. Faith doesn’t work like that.
True faith is knowing that our Heavenly Father is there to protect us, bless us, and keep us. He has already done his work, even if you can’t see it. Now it is your turn to do your part. Trust him And believe in him. Then jump!
