Times of Refreshment
Times of Refreshment
Acts 3:20
Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.
There is a scene in Iron Man where Tony Stark has escaped his captors and is now wandering the desert. He used up whatever water he had quite a while ago, and he is almost collapsing. Just in time, a helicopter flies in and saves him. Tony then goes on to become my favorite superhero, Iron Man.
There are times when I feel like I am wandering a spiritual desert. Whatever strength and joy I had seems like it left long ago. During those times, I just keep walking, hoping to find something that will refresh my parched heart.
I today’s passage Peter lets us know that Jesus is a refreshment for our lives. He brings that living water that quenches our thirst entirely. So how do we get dry spiritually?
Maybe we haven’t been in our Bible like we should.
Maybe our prayer time is lacking.
Or maybe we are overwhelmed by the cares of life, and forget that God is there to lead us, comfort us, and bring refreshment.
If you are going through a spiritual desert, just know that God hasn’t gone anywhere. He is there, ready to bring refreshment to your parched and dry soul. Read Psalms for Peace, Proverbs for wisdom, and spend time just listening to God. He is there, waiting for you with living water all ready for you.
