Tongue Tied
Luke 21:14-15
So don’t worry in advance about how to answer the charges against you, for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!
If you have attended church for any length of time, you have heard the pastor telling you the importance of sharing Jesus with others. If not, you may need to find a better church!
Throughout my ministry when I would share messages on sharing your faith, I would always get one main excuse. “I can’t share my faith, Jerry, I get tongue tied because I don’t know what to say…”
Fortunately, there is a Greek word that covers this situation. Baloney, from the Greek root bologna, which means hooey. Don’t you feel smarter now?
Seriously, how hard is it to share what Jesus has done in your life? You don’t have, nor should you, use some kind of King James oratorical device. (Please read the following in as deep a voice as you can muster, and overpronounce syllables as you go) “Yeah, verily, thou must come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and be washed in the Blood of the Lamb, haleluuuuuuuuuujah.”
So here is a suggestion from your Uncle Jer. Just tell people what Jesus has done for you. Honest, plain, simple, and from your heart. Your friends don’t need to hear a sermon, or some canned soul winning lingo, they need to hear from you. What has happened to you?
Listen to your friends and remember today’s verse, that God will give you the replies and wisdom as you go. You are not alone, you have the power of the Holy Spirit prompting.
To quote that great philosopher, Bo Jackson: Just do it!
