Too Good To Be True
Galatians 1:6-7 I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ.
Evidently, some elderly lady in Resume Speed, Iowa wants to bless my ministry with a donation from her dead husband’s fortune. Hmmm, something doesn’t sound right…
There is a special magnet I can put on the fuel line of my motor home that will raise my gas mileage by 20%! That seems amazing, but something doesn’t sound right…
Every day we get these spam messages promising something that sounds too good to be true. And they are too good to be true.
Unfortunately, there are teachers out there that are “reforming” or “reimagining” the Gospel, too. They teach that the Bible doesn’t really mean what it says, we just need to reimagine it in light of today’s morals and outlooks.
When you hear this run fast, run far.
Hearing that God isn’t really going to judge you for your sin, or that he even approves of it isn’t just wrong, it is deadly. God’s view of sin hasn’t, and won’t, change. These people are selling you a false gospel. It may feel good to your mind, but it is killing your heart and life with God. We need to change our lives to fit God’s Word, not try to change God’s Word to fit our lives.
If you insist on being gullible enough to follow those teachers, I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I hardly ever use. I’ll sell it to you cheap…
