Luke 11:33
No one lights a lamp and then hides it or puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.
I spent quite a few years at the Sheriff’s Office using a camera. As a crime scene investigator, I used a camera to document crime scenes. The camera wasn’t magic, if I didn’t focus the lens on the correct place or thing, the camera didn’t fix it for me. I had to focus correctly in order to get what I needed.
David Thompson wrote:
That camera will reproduce what the focus of the lens is. It will reproduce a picture of its focus. So it is with people spiritually. They will produce a picture of their real focus. If they are focused on the righteousness of God and Jesus Christ and the word of God, they will reflect it. If they are focused on the things of this world, things of religion, their lives will reflect it. Whatever you feed into your eyes and lens will eventually fill up the picture of your life.
What are you focused on? Does the camera of your life aim at Jesus? Or does it maybe focus on things that you want, your hurts, or your own selfish desires?
If we will just focus on the things of God, following Him and loving Him, our lives will become beautiful pictures of God’s grace and mercy.
Where is your focus?
