We have tried over the years to stop lava flows, but we haven’t been real successful. In 1935 the U.S. Army tried to bomb a channel on Hawaii’s Mauna Loa volcano. It didn’t work. They tried once more in 1942, and still no luck. Others have tried with a little success, but in the end, lava is a force that can’t be stopped, only slowed.
